The interactive site for SCC's 45th anniversary open day. Visitors enter their name, get scanned in at each zone, watch their route light up, and leave with a certificate and a 3D-printed souvenir.

Silicon Trip 2025 was the interactive site for SCC's 45th anniversary open day, built by the school's ICT panel. The event name came from the 30 iMacs newly installed in the computer room: chips are made of silicon, and the room became the trip.
The route
Visitors enter their name and the site signs them into Firebase anonymously, creating a personal record. Their dashboard shows a QR code; staff at each zone scan it and the visit lands in the database. The dashboard listens in real time, so the route map lights up as zones clear. At the end, visitors give an email and receive a certificate, with a 3D-printed "SCC" text as the souvenir.
The site
- Front end — hand-written HTML/CSS/JS, with GSAP + ScrollTrigger for scroll animation and Three.js for the 3D visuals.
- Back end — Firebase anonymous auth and a Realtime Database, hosted on Firebase Hosting. The database is the record of every visit.
- Content — sections walk through the school's IT education: programming team, drone, 3D printing, AI, the iMac lab, VR, plus the organising team and a privacy policy.
First production build
It was the first production deployment for the team, and the plan was wrong at first. Drawing the flowchart exposed where the thinking had looped, and the build followed the corrected flow from there. It shipped on the open day, 20 and 22 December 2025.
