Second-year promotion to tenor section leader with the Music Office Youth Choir, and Most Outstanding Member recognition.
Section leader, second year
I joined the Music Office Youth Choir (MOYC) and was promoted to tenor section leader in my second year. The role is more than singing my own part: it means carrying the section — knowing everyone's line, spotting entries, holding tuning and balance across the tenors, and being the first point of contact between the section and the conductor.
The concerts
I took part in 10+ concerts over the years, including the 45th Anniversary Gala. That programme leaned on the senior sections to hold the evening together, and leading the tenors through it sharpened the same skills I use on stage now: listening across sections, keeping the ensemble breathing together, and showing up prepared.
Recognition
The Most Outstanding Member award came from the consistency across a full season rather than any single concert. It is the responsibility of leading a section, week in and week out, that the award really measured.
